Oh now that's a lovely title. . . . Why is this section called
Bric-A-Brac? 'Cause that's exactly what it contains! All sorts of miscellaneous
items that I couldn't get to fit anywhere, so rather than just create tiny
little sections that aren't going to be followed up on at all, I decided
a whole big section of what-nots would do! Innovative, aren't I? ;)
The following are stories that either I or someone else posted to fanfic mailing lists. They're arranged roughly in chronological order (I hope -- my memory's notorious for being mean to me). Was It Something I Didn't Say -- a Jonny Quest music filk that I did. Can't say the sappiness didn't make me cringe, but hey, at least I tried. And sappiness always makes me cringe anyway. (*grin*) Non-X Holiday Party -- I probably irked a few with this, but I swear, I didn't mean it to have an anti-X tone! I only wrote it 'cause I thought it'd be fun. It never occurred to me until somebody pointed it out. . . . But lots of people enjoyed it, so I guess they can't complain. :) Screaming In Silence -- Not a pretty picture. A TCP (The Common People) story with a dark mood. Love In The Family -- Ahh, a much nicer piece. Sorta. (*grin*) Another TCP, showing something that I'd like to see more often in stories and in real life -- loyalty and love. Differences -- An ultra-short TCP. I didn't have the strength to draw it out into a longer one, but maybe concise is sweeter. Or not. In any case, it has a twist. Time Waits For No Man, Woman, Or Muse -- Miscellaneous piece of work. Doesn't involve fanfic at all, not unless you count the slight mentions of series titles in there. (*grin*) And I swear, I do imagine my muse as a purple-haired girl with a snappy attitude! :)
Walk With Me -- Funny how I should get the idea to write this while walking to work. Windy winters do that to you, I guess. This is an X-Men fanfic, not my best so far. It could probably have turned out into a longer, more meaningful series exploring the implications on Jean Grey's life, but it didn't 'cause I'm too soft. I didn't have the heart to torture her some more. Family Matters -- A much much more positive TCP fic. (*smile*) Inspired by Kielle's TCP fic, "Baby Talk". You really should read it. Things Little Girls Should Never Hear -- Written in answer to Alicia McKenzie's Storytellers challenge. The idea was to write something storyteller-style, in first person point-of-view, located in the future talking of past mutant heroes. I kinda bent the rules a little, since I didn't really have any past mutant heroes in here. Well, maybe I did, but they sure weren't heralded as legends, which was the point of the challenge. Midnight Raid -- Short piece done in answer to Em-Spyder's 350-words challenge. Not that I know a whole lot about Magneto and his Acolytes, but what the hey, it's a sillyfic. That oughta give me some leeway. ;) Don The Suit -- My first Batman Beyond fic. Will there be more to come? Only time will tell. Tale Of The Last Twinkie -- My first Hank & Bobby piece. :) After reading so many good Hank and Bobby fics I was nervous whether I'd gotten them right here. Okay, so it's fluffish -- I actually wrote this to start of another different fic, but it just refused to listen to me and went off another way. Naughty little piece, ain't it? ;) Never Mess With A Furry Blue Genius -- Sequel to Tale Of The Last Twinkie, idea totally belonging to Ryan Ledgerwood. Really, Ryan, making me write a sequel? For shame! ;) Advice -- A Nightwing fic, helped muchly by Syl. Wrath -- Written in answer to Alara's Genderswap Challenge. What if the Dark Knight had been a woman? To Live Again -- Inspired by "JLA: Strength In Numbers". So much rests on the Oracle's shoulders, sometimes it just gets too much. JB McDonald's birthday prezzie, 2000 -- I wrote a sort-of fanfic specially for JB's birthday, featuring her fictives. If you read her stuff, see if you know who is which. ;) Prey -- My first Catwoman fic, inspired greatly by Whitewolf's Closure. Also a sequel to that story. The
Tale Of The McDragon -- written for JB
after reading some of her e-mails. (*grin*)
Life Uncommon -- An Asterix fic. Yay! :) This was written for Mel in exchange for a Tintin fic. Now I'm waiting for it. (*grin*)
How the Mel Met The Maelstrom -- Written for Mel, in the style of Tale Of The McDragon. :)
Devil-Child -- Wrote this story for my Creative Writing class, aimed at conveying mood. Tell me if I have. :) Grandmother -- Nope, this has no relation with my own grandmothers, both of whom are very lovely ladies indeed. Even if they are as different as night and day. ;) Poem written for the same Creative Writing class. Death Of Dreams -- This poem was languishing so long in my notebook computer that I figured, what the heck, let's just chuck it out there. It rhymes, which just shows how long ago I wrote it. ;) Somewhere Today -- Yup, same as above. Old poem, languishing, chucked in. Rhymes. I like it, though, saccharine as it sounds. The Visit -- A long poem I wrote for my Creative Writing class. Some people liked it, some people thought it could be improved. It's up here in its original format, except for one tiny grammatical error that I corrected. ;) Have fun. Painted Eyes -- The title was inspired by a poem I read somewhere, I think it was fanfic. And this just sort of evolved from there. Just Breathe -- The title came about from a phrase uttered in the movie Ever After (heart-wondrously beautiful movie, by the way), and the concept was mostly in answer to a Defiant Ones' challenge, to write about summer. Untold Wishes -- A poem I wrote in between classes. I like it. Thank You
-- Like it says. :) Thank you for making me glow.
